As part of the "Celebrating the Diversity Again" exhibition at the Cubby Hole all participants were asked to create a 12x12 piece with a steampunk theme. Here's mine:-
I saw a rusting technique online and thought i'd give it a go....scary! The mixture of hydrogen peroxide, white vinegar and salt was suppose to be left for 24-hours but mine only took 30-mins before it started bubbling and expanding and as my pussy cat was looking too curious I decided enough was enough lol....it did rust the metal elements though ......
Whoops ...should have said my mannequin was a wooden one from a doll's house shop. I sanded her down before applying silver acrylic paint and then applying the stamped cogs onto tissue paper. Her wings were heavily embossed with silver embossing powder. The little jars also from the doll's house shop were coloured using alcohol inks as these were a little bright.
My copper winged lady was made using metal sheet and an embossing folder. I applied midnight blue stazon and silver acrylic paint to colour,
My Graphic 45 lady's head was added to another doll's house find ...the frame! This was garish gold so I sanded before adding alcohol inks and Stazon ink. Glossy accents and a metal rose was added.
Another example of metal rusting, watch parts. My metal roses were made using the Marianne Design Chinese-Roses-LR0163, I used copper metal and then coloured again with alcohol ink and stazon ink pads. The die cut clocks received the same treatment.
I would love to enter my 12x12 canvas into the following challenges:-
